Charts help you visualize your data and is a great way to reflect your information if it changes on a regular basis. You can create your chart in Excel and then copy from Excel to another Office program. When you copy the chart into Word, you can keep it linked to the original Excel file so it is always up to date.

  1. Select Insert > Chart.

  2. Select the chart type and then double-click the chart you want.

    Tip: For help deciding which chart is best for your data, please go to Available chart types.

  3. In the spreadsheet that appears, replace the default data with your own information.

    Tips: When you insert a chart, buttons will appear next to its upper corner:

  4. When you've finished, close the spreadsheet.

  5. If you want, use the Layout Options button Layout Options button to arrange the chart and text in your document.
