Microsoft Teams

Teams meeting audio recap is a feature that uses AI to capture and summarize key topics discussed during your Teams meetings with an engaging audio output. It converts the selected meeting transcripts into audio summaries, allowing users to quickly review highlights for multiple meetings, helping them find important information efficiently.

Meeting audio recap enhances productivity and efficiency by providing audio summaries of selected meeting transcriptions, mitigating the need for users to go through entire recaps.

Meeting users want to quickly recall or recap what happened in meetings without going through each individual meeting recap. Meeting audio recaps help users stay updated on what matters the most and boost productivity.

Meeting audio recap was evaluated through extensive manual and automatic testing on top of Microsoft internal usage. The evaluated metrics were internally defined, grounded (including accuracy, comprehensiveness, inclusion, clarity) and ungrounded (including thought provoking, storytelling, engagement) metrics.

More evaluation was performed over custom datasets for offensive and malicious input and output. In addition, meeting audio recap is continuously evaluated with user online feedback.

  • Currently, only English is supported as audio output in audio recap scenarios. More languages and locales will be added in the future.

  • Currently, only a maximum of 8 meetings can be summarized in one audio recap.

  • AI-generated content might be missing key information and contain inaccurate content. Users can listen to the meetings' original recordings or read the transcripts to check for accuracy.

Users can provide feedback directly through the user interface of the Audio recap page by selecting the thumb up/ thumb down button and entering in your feedback.

To use meeting audio recap, users must enable meeting transcription, which admins can manage with Recording & transcription meeting policies in the Teams admin center. The generated audio recap is exclusively accessible to you and will expire after 60 days.  You can manage your audio recaps in OneDrive, where you have the option to delete any audio recap that is no longer needed. Once an audio recap is deleted from OneDrive, it will no longer be available on your Teams Audio recap listing page.

Customer data isn‘t logged or used for any AI model training or testing.

Audio recap generation uses a GPT model from Open AI through Azure OpenAI Service. Customer data isn’t shared with non-Microsoft parties, including Open AI. Microsoft runs the GPT-based models internally using a dedicated GPT service (Azure OpenAI). This dedicated service runs within the compliance boundaries that are used only for Microsoft 365 and Office 365 services.

Audio recap automatically inherits Microsoft security, compliance, and privacy policies for Microsoft 365 Copilot.
