Send a file, picture, or link in Microsoft Teams
When you're in a chat, you can send messages that include files, pictures, and links.
Send a link

To send a link, select FormatÂ
 from beneath the message box. -
Then select Insert link
 from the top of the message box. -
Add display text and the address, select Insert, or copy and paste the link into the message box, and then select SendÂ

Select the text you want to link on and select Ctrl+V.
Note: Teams has its​ own ATP Safe Links security to verify that any link that you send or receive is safe to choose. As an added layer of protection, we'll let you know about a potentially unsafe link.
Attach a file or picture

To include a file or picture in a chat or channel message, select Actions and appsÂ
 > Attach file . -
Select from the list of recently opened files, or choose to Attach cloud filesÂ
 or Upload from this device ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​, depending on where your file is saved.
Messages with image, video and many types of document attachments will automatically include a preview of the attached files. Those with more than three attachments will include the preview after the message is sent.Â
Notes:Â

If you don't have permission to view the file or the file is encrypted using certain sensitivity labels, you won't see a preview. However, you can request permission to access the file. Messages sent in chats with external users also won't include file previews.

Certain file types, such as .zip files, can't be previewed.Â
View links next to a chatÂ
When you open a webpage link from a Teams chat while logged into Microsoft Edge, the chat window opens in the Edge browser to view the content and chat side-by-side. This makes it easy to view links without needing to switch back and forth between apps.

From a chat or meeting, tap the attachment to open it with a Microsoft 365 app. In a channel conversation, tap the attachment or go to Tabs >Â Files.
