Text predictions unexpectedly become unavailable and are missing in Outlook options

ISSUE

When you write email text in Outlook Desktop you expect to see suggested text but this feature has stopped working.   

When you check the Outlook settings the Show text predictions while typing option is missing: 

1. While you're writing an email message, go to File > Options > Mail.

2. Under Compose messages, make sure the Show text predictions while typing box is checked.

STATUS: FIXED

Text predictions have been re-enabled for Current Channel, as of 3/27/25.

The text predictions feature is not available in the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel (Preview) or Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel.

If you need to use the feature, you can switch Office to Current Channel Preview or Monthly Enterprise Channel. Three options for switching Office Channels:

1. Run a registry key that switches the channel. For more information, go to Use a registry command to install Microsoft 365 Insider on Windows devices. After you run the registry key, restart Outlook then select File> Office Account > Update Options > Update Now.

2. Run a set of registry keys and then use File > Office Account > Update Channel, and switch to Monthly Enterprise Channel or Current Channel Preview, Let users choose which Microsoft 365 Insider channel to install on Windows devices. After you run the registry keys, restart Outlook then select File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now.

3. Use the Office Deployment Tool to change channels. For more information, go to Change the Microsoft 365 Apps update channel for devices in your organization.
