ISSUE

After updating to Current Channel Version 2507 (Build 19029.20136+) the Edit Contact button stopped working. When you click the Edit Contact button it shows a fly out window and does not open the contact for editing.   

This issue occurs whether you use Search People or go directly to the Contacts folder to edit the contact.

Edit button not working in class Outlook

This issue is occurring in Current Channel and Current Channel Preview.

STATUS: FIXED

This issue is fixed in the Office Beta Channel and Current Channel Preview with Version 2508. Version 2508 with the fix is currently scheduled to go to Current Channel the week of August 25, 2025.

WORKAROUND

To work around the issue, select the People Pane in the side navigation and select the Contacts folder, then double click on the contact to open it to edit. 

To confirm the issue, you can revert to a build before the issue started such as build 18925.20184.  

  1. Open a Command Prompt in Administrator context (Run as administrator)

  2. Type or paste the command below and press Enter:  ​​​​​​​"%programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.18925.20184
