Class Notebook Tools instructions for OneNote for the web
Applies To
OneNote for the web

The Class Notebook toolbar in OneNote for the web helps educators distribute pages and sections, review student work, and open notebook management actions from a OneNote Class Notebook.

When you open a Class Notebook in OneNote for the web, the Class Notebook tab appears in the ribbon. This applies to Class Notebooks created with the Class Notebook Wizard, Microsoft Teams for Education, or Microsoft 365 LTI.

Note: If you do not see the Class Notebook tab, make sure you opened a OneNote Class Notebook with your school account. If the notebook was just created in Teams or through Microsoft 365 LTI, try opening it from the class team or LMS course first.

Open the Class Notebook toolbar

  1. Open your Class Notebook in OneNote for the web.

  2. Select the Class Notebook tab.

  3. Select Distribute.

  4. To add content to the new section, use Distribute Page.

Review student work

Use Review Student Work to move through student pages from one place.

  2. Choose the notebook section you want to review.

  3. Select the page, then choose a student from the list.

Tip: Students can be sorted by first or last name to keep them aligned with your grade book.

Manage notebook membership and settings

Some toolbar commands open the Class Notebook Wizard in a new browser tab so you can manage notebooks, students, educators, and links.

Roster changes should happen in the source that created the notebook: class team membership for Teams Class Notebooks, the LMS course roster for Microsoft 365 LTI Class Notebooks, or the Class Notebook Wizard for standalone notebooks.
