Note: The tutorial steps in this article are from Clipchamp for personal accounts. The same principles apply to Clipchamp for work.
Cropping is a video editing technique that lets you set the visible part of a video or image frame. You can cut out unwanted elements or lines at the edges of a video or fit an image to a different aspect ratio.
How to crop a video, image, or graphic

Import a media asset from your device or OneDrive or select a stock asset inside the content library then drag and drop your asset onto the editing timeline.

Click on any asset on your timeline so it's highlighted, then click on the crop button on the floating toolbar inside the stage.

Freehand cropping handles will appear on the sides, top, and bottom of your video asset inside the video preview. Drag the handles left and right, up and down, or diagonally to crop your asset.

When you're finished, click on the done button.

If you would like to undo any cropping changes, click on the undo button. You can also delete your video using the delete option. Then drag and drop the same asset onto the timeline from the your media tab to start again.
How to remove black borders from videos or images

Click on the asset has black borders on your timeline so it's highlighted.

Click on the fit button in the floating toolbar inside the stage.

The black borders on your asset will automatically remove so it fits the video aspect ratio.
How to crop a GIF

Click on the GIF on the editing timeline so it's highlighted then click on the crop button on the floating toolbar inside the stage to open the GIF cropper.

Drag the freehand cropping handles to crop your asset.

When you're finished, click on the done button.
How to crop out watermarks from a video
Trim away unwanted watermarks from your video and replace it with your own logo using the video cropper.

Click on the watermarked asset on your timeline so it's highlighted, then click on the crop button on the floating toolbar inside the stage.

Drag the freehand cropping handles to reframe your video without the watermark.

When you're finished, click on the done button.
