How to group assets on the timeline

Selecting multiple assets on the timeline and turning them into a group lets you create manageable scenes in a video, streamlining the editing experience. All video assets like videos, images, music, text animations, GIFs, voice recordings, text to speech voiceovers, and overlays can be combined into a group.

Groups can be moved and reordered on the timeline without the need to select multiple video assets individually, maintaining a synced video editing timeline. You can also duplicate a group and create multiple groups easily to suit your video editing needs.

  1. To add assets on the timeline into a group, hold the shift key on your keyboard.

  2. Click to drag and highlight the assets on the timeline that you would like to group.

  3. After you have selected all assets, right-click to reveal a menu.

  4. Click on group to combine your assets into an organized group on the timeline.

Note: You can also use the keyboard shortcuts CTRL + G on Windows devices or CMD + G on Mac devices to create a group in a quick and accessible way.

How to ungroup assets on the timeline

Right-click on the group to reveal a menu, then click ungroup. This will automatically ungroup all of the assets and display them on the timeline as usual.

How to edit individual assets within the group

Assets need to be ungrouped to be edited individually. Double-click to select and edit an individual asset on the timeline after ungrouping.
