How to use image background removal

  1. To import your own images, click on the your media tab on the toolbar, then click on the import media button to upload from your computer or connect your OneDrive.

  2. To select a stock image, click on the content library tab, then click on the visuals drop down arrow, select images, and browse the image library by category or entering keywords into the search bar.

  3. Once you've uploaded or selected your image, drag and drop it onto the timeline. After your image is added to the timeline, there are three different ways to access the image background removal tool:

  • Option 1. Click on your image on the timeline so it's highlighted. Next, right-click on the video inside the stage then click on the remove background button.

  • Option 2. Click on your image in the timeline so it's highlighted. Next, click on the three dots on the floating toolbar inside the stage to open the background removal feature. Click on the remove background button.

  • Option 3. Click on your image in the timeline so it's highlighted. Next, click on the effects tab on the property panel. Select the background removal effect.

For all options, AI will automatically remove your image background.

How to restore an image background

  1. If you're unhappy with the image background removal changes, just click on the undo and redo buttons at the top left of the stage.

  2. While your image is selected on the timeline, you can right-click again on the stage, then click on the restore background button.

  3. To undo the change from the effects tab on the property panel, reselect the background removal effect or click on none option.

How to add a new image background

Now that the background of your image has been removed, the image file will appear to have a transparent background. If there is no other asset stacked on the timeline, the background will appear black.

  1. To add a new image or video background, drag and drop an image or video onto the timeline below your image from the content library tab.

  2. You can also add personal media to the timeline from the your media tab. Your image will now appear to have a new background.
