How do I find my chat history?
You'll find your chat history in the Microsoft Copilot app.
Go to Copilot Chat and sign in with your Microsoft 365 account.
In Copilot Chat, find the Chats list on the left-side navigation.
Select a chat conversation to revisit.
- Read through the chat or continue the chat with Copilot Chat.
Next to the chat’s title, select ... More to:

Rename: Allows you to rename the conversation. -
Move to notebook: Adds the chat conversation to Copilot Notebooks . -
Delete: Deletes the conversation from chat history.

How do I turn off Copilot personalization based on chat history?
Copilot Memory automatically collects key details from your previous chat conversations and remembers it for future conversations.
If you don’t want Copilot Memory to use your previous chats to respond to future prompts, complete the following steps:
Go to Copilot Chat and sign in with your Microsoft 365 account.
At the top right of Copilot Chat, select ... Settings and more and select
Chat settings from the menu.In the Chat settings window, select
Personalization from the left-side menu.Turn off the Chat history toggle. After 30 days, inferences that Copilot made from previous chats are deleted.
- If you're signed in with your work or school account, the toggle might say Chat history & work insights. In that case, memories that Copilot made based on your work content are also deleted along with memories from your chat history.
- Work insights are only available if you're signed in with your work or school account, and are dependent on which Microsoft Copilot plan that your organization has.
- If the Chat history toggle is turned back on within 30 days after the deletion, Copilot adds back the deleted memories from your chat history (and from work content, if work insights are available to you).
How does Copilot use my chat history?
Copilot may use context from previous chat conversations to improve future responses by making inferences about what is important to remember. For example, if you once mentioned you’re planning a business trip to Japan, it might suggest travel tips when you ask, “What should I pack?”
Copilot doesn’t remember every detail from your previous chats, only what’s useful for personalizing its responses to your questions and tasks.
If there’s a chat conversation you don’t want Copilot to reference, you should delete that conversation.
