Clean up your data with Copilot in Excel

If you’re working on a spreadsheet over time or with other people, your data may accumulate small inconsistencies. Copilot can help you manage information smoothly by fixing inconsistencies with spacing, capitalization, number formatting, and text formatting.

Examples of inconsistencies that Copilot can help with: 

• Spacing issues: Microsoft   Excel, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft      Excel

• Inconsistent capitalization: Excel, EXCEL, excel

• Inconsistent number and text formatting: 5, five, 5.0

Learn more about available number formats

1. First, format your data for Copilot.

2. Go to the Data tab and choose Clean Data.

3. Copilot identifies possible issues with spacing, numbers, formatting, and spelling.

4. Select Apply to change your text based on the suggestion, or choose Ignore to keep your original text.
