Every one-to-one and group chat in Microsoft Teams Free has chat details where you can find shared files and more. You can also choose to hide, mute, or mark your chats as unread.

Hide or mute a chat   Hide a chat to remove it from your Recent chat list. If someone messages you in that chat, it'll no longer be hidden. Mute a chat to stop receiving notifications for the chat. You can still view a muted chat in your Recent chat list.

  1. In the Chat Teams Community event chat tab, tap and hold on your chat.

  2. Tap Mute chat  Teams Mute icon or Hide chat  Teams Hide icon. If it's a one-on-one chat, you can also Block your contact. ​​​​​​​

​​​​​​​Unhide a chat

  1. Search Teams find button for the chat name.

  2. Add new messages or content to the chat. The chat will then appear in your Chat Teams Community event chat tab. ​​​​​​​

Mark chat as unread

In the Chat Teams Community event chat tab, tap and hold your chat and tap Mark as unread.

Pin a chat

In the Chat Teams Community event chat tab, tap and hold your chat and tap Pin chat Teams pin chat icon.

Chat details for one-on-one chat  

In the Chat Teams Chat Tab icon tab, you will see different features are available for one-on-one chats. Select the chat you want to view. At the top of the screen, tap the chat header for the chat details.  You can also create a group chat that has additional customizations for your chat experience.

Share the link to join the chat.

Mute

Switch the chat notifications on or off.

Find a specific message in the chat.

Allow join via link  Copy meeting link button

Share join  link  Teams Android share icon

Show QR Code  Teams QR code button

When you tap More , you can:

  • Pin a message to chat.

  • Switch join via link on or off.

  • Invite other people to join the chat with a link or QR code.

Start a group chat Teams iOS add member to chat icon

Add people to create a group chat.

Leave the chat  Teams leave chat icon
