Hide, mute, pin, and view chat details in Microsoft Teams Free

Every one-to-one and group chat in Microsoft Teams Free has chat details where you can find shared files and more. You can also choose to hide, mute, or mark your chats as unread.

Hide or mute a chat Hide a chat to remove it from your Recent chat list. If someone messages you in that chat, it'll no longer be hidden. Mute a chat to stop receiving notifications for the chat. You can still view a muted chat in your Recent chat list.

In the Chat tab, tap and hold on your chat.
Tap Mute chat or Hide chat . If it's a one-on-one chat, you can also Block your contact.

Unhide a chat

Search for the chat name.
Add new messages or content to the chat. The chat will then appear in your Chat tab.

Mark chat as unread

In the Chat Teams Community event chat tab, tap and hold your chat and tap Mark as unread.

Pin a chat

In the Chat Teams Community event chat tab, tap and hold your chat and tap Pin chat Teams pin chat icon .

Chat details for one-on-one chat

In the Chat Teams Chat Tab icon tab, you will see different features are available for one-on-one chats. Select the chat you want to view. At the top of the screen, tap the chat header for the chat details. You can also create a group chat that has additional customizations for your chat experience.

If you tap on	What'll happen
Share	Share the link to join the chat.
Mute	Switch the chat notifications on or off.
Find	Find a specific message in the chat.
Pin Allow join via link Share join link Show QR Code	When you tap More , you can: Pin a message to chat. Switch join via link on or off. Invite other people to join the chat with a link or QR code.
Start a group chat	Add people to create a group chat.
Leave the chat	Leave the chat

Hide or mute a chat

Hide a chat to remove it from your Recent chat list. If someone messages you in that chat, it will no longer be hidden. Mute a chat to stop receiving notifications for the chat. You can still view a muted chat in your Recent chat list.

In the Chat tab, right click or select More options on the chat you'd like to mute or hide.
Select Mute or Hide . If it is a one-on-one chat, you can also Block your contact.

Unhide a chat

Search for the chat name.
Add new messages or content to the chat. The chat will then appear in your Chat tab.

Mark a chat as Unread

In the Chat Teams Community event chat tab, right click or select More options More options button on your chat and select Mark as unread.

Tip: In the chat options, you can also add the chat to your Favorite list or Pop out chat to separate it from your main window.

Pin a chat

In the Chat tab, right click or select More options on the chat you'd like to pin.
Select Pin .

Chat details for one-on-one chat

In the Chat Teams Chat Tab icon tab, you will see different features are available for one-on-one chats. You can also create a group chat that has additional customizations for your chat experience.

If you select	What'll happen
Video call	Under Meet now , you can switch the video on or off for a video call.
Audio call	Under Meet now , you can switch the audio on or off for an audio call.
Start a group chat	Add people to create a group chat.
Open in a new window	You can open a chat window outside for easy access to a specific chat.
Screen sharing	Share your screen.
Mark as unread	To leave a chat unread, select More options , then select Mark as unread.
Pin	To pin a chat, select More options , then select Pin.
Mute	To mute a chat, select More options , then select Mute.
Get link to chat	To get a link to share your chat, select More options , then select Get link to chat.
Hide	To hide a chat, select More options , then select Hide.
Manage apps	To manage apps in your chat, select More options , then select Manage apps.
Delete	To delete a chat, hover over the chat in the chat list and select More options , then select Delete.
