Requirements
To get set up, you’ll need a PC that’s running Windows 11 with support for Bluetooth 4.0 or later. This keyboard supports Swift Pair in Windows for faster pairing.Â

Connect your keyboard
Your keyboard will automatically turn on when you initially remove the battery pull tab or replace the batteries.
Pair your keyboard with Bluetooth
Turn on your keyboard, then follow the instructions to pair it to your PC:Â Â Â

Press and hold the pair button on the side of the keyboard until the LED light above the Up arrow key starts flashing (about 3 seconds).

On your Windows PC, select Connect if a notification appears for your keyboard, enter the PIN displayed on the screen, press Enter, and wait for the setup to complete.
Didn’t see the notification?-
Go to Start  > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device > Bluetooth > Surface Keyboard 2nd Edition.

Enter the PIN displayed on the screen, press Enter, and then select Done.

Once your keyboard is paired, the LED light will stop flashing.Â
Customize keyboard and typing settings
To customize the keyboard:
Use the Surface app to customize keyboard settings. To open it, select Start , enter surface, and select it to open the app. If you don't have the app installed, download it from the Microsoft Store.
Once the app is open, select the keyboard at the bottom, then choose Customize keyboard to adjust your settings.
To change the typing settings for your keyboard:

Select Start  > Settings > Time & language > Typing .
Battery info
This keyboard is powered by two AAA batteries. To replace them:

Turn the keyboard over.

Remove the battery compartment cover.

Insert two new AAA batteries and replace the cover.
To check the battery level at any time, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices, or open the Surface app.
The keyboard automatically enters a low-power mode when not in use to help extend battery life.
