Requirements

To get set up, you’ll need a PC that’s running Windows 11 or Windows 10 with support for Bluetooth 4.0 or later. This mouse supports Swift Pair in Windows for faster pairing.

Connect your mouse

Your mouse has a shared power and Bluetooth pairing button located on the bottom. Press the button once to turn the mouse on or off. For Bluetooth pairing, press and hold the button to put the mouse in discovery mode.

Pair your mouse with Bluetooth

Turn on your mouse, then follow the instructions to pair it to your PC:   

  1. Press and hold the pair button on the bottom of the mouse until the LED light starts to flash (about 3 seconds).

  2. On your Windows PC, select Connect if a notification appears for your mouse, then wait for it to get set up. Didn’t see the notification?

    Open Bluetooth & devices

    • Windows 11: Go to Start  > Settings  > Bluetooth & devices > Add device > Bluetooth > Surface Mouse > Done.

    • Windows 10: Go to Start  > Settings  > Devices  > Bluetooth & other devices  > Add Bluetooth or other device  > Bluetooth > Surface Mouse > Done.

Once your mouse is paired, the LED light will stop flashing. The light will stay on until you turn off your mouse. 

Battery info

The Surface Mouse is powered by two AAA batteries. To replace them:

  1. Turn the mouse over.

  2. Gently press the edge of the battery door to open it.

  3. Remove the old batteries and insert two new AAA batteries.

To help conserve battery life, press the Bluetooth button on the bottom of the mouse to turn it off when not in use.

Tip: To check the battery level any time, select Search, type Bluetooth, and then open Bluetooth & other devices settings. The battery level appears next to your mouse.

Customize mouse settings

To change the behavior and settings for your mouse:

  • Windows 11: Select Start  > Settings  > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse .

  • Windows 10: Select​​​​​​​ Start  > Settings  > Devices  > Mouse .
