Applies To
SharePoint in Microsoft 365 Microsoft OfficeUsing Copilot to check your Connections dashboard cards
-
Using the chat feature in Copilot to check your Connections dashboards cards is a new feature that empowers Copilot to use Connections Dashboard cards (where present) to be used in replies to user prompts.
-
When the user uses a specific set of trigger words, Copilot checks to see if there is a Viva Connections Dashboard card to be used in the interaction with the user. If found, the card is then presented in the Copilot chat and the user can interact with the card directly from the Copilot experience.
-
Users can interact with their Connections dashboard cards (where present in the Connections experience) as way to get answers from Copilot.
-
Based on manual tests, where prompts containing the keywords “card” or “dashboard card”, the plugin executed correctly 100% of the time by either replying with the correct Connections dashboard card or an explanation that the card was not found (if no such card existed on the dashboard).
-
Copilot can only respond with Connections Dashboard cards if all the following conditions are met:
-
Connections exists and has been enabled at the tenant level;
-
There is a Connections dashboard with cards published;
-
The user is using a trigger word or an agent; and
-
The content of the user’s query matches the title of the description of the card.
-
-
Currently, this feature is only enabled in the SharePoint Copilot experience where trigger words are needed for Copilot to trigger.
-
End users can provide feedback, or report concerns to Microsoft by selecting the “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” icon that appear within the summary results. This feedback is directed to Microsoft for review and consideration.
Copilot powered news summary
Note: The Copilot powered news summary is currently only available through the desktop version of Microsoft Teams and is rolling out to users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.
-
The Copilot powered news summary is a feature designed to create summaries of the top news items in a user’s news feed, providing a quick overview of the most relevant news content, and helping users stay informed efficiently. Copilot powered news summary can be accessed by selecting Summarize top news in the News tab.
-
By selecting Summarize top news, the Copilot powered news summary generates concise summaries of the top news items in a user’s news feed (currently up to 10 items). This feature is designed to provide a quick overview of the most relevant news content.
-
The Copilot powered news summary is designed with a single, fixed prompt. This means that users can only use it to generate summaries of the news content in their feed and cannot edit the prompt.
This focused approach ensures that the feature remains dedicated to its primary purpose: providing concise summaries of the most relevant news items.
-
The Copilot powered news summary is manually evaluated by Microsoft based on several metrics, primarily the extent to which summaries are factually grounded in the content of news posts and communicate the key points effectively.
-
As summaries are AI-generated, they may contain incorrect or misleading information. Users can check information at the source to minimize the impact of such issues by selecting the citation links in the Copilot response.
-
The Copilot powered news summary operates with a fixed prompt, meaning users can only interact with it to generate summaries of the news content in their feed. The prompt cannot be edited. This design ensures that the summary output is relevant to the user's content in their feed.
-
End users can provide feedback, or report concerns to Microsoft by selecting the “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” icon that appear within the summary results. This feedback is directed to Microsoft for review and consideration.
