Generate audio overviews with Copilot in OneDrive

OneDrive (home or personal) OneDrive for Mac OneDrive for WindowsAudio overviews are a way to listen to a summary or discussion about your files. There are two styles available:

Summary Style (the default experience): A single AI host gives you a quick and clear summary of the main points in your file.

Podcast Style: Two AI hosts engage in a natural, conversational discussion, adding depth and nuance as they explore the key ideas in your content.
If you are a OneDrive for work or school user, you can generate audio overviews for Word documents, PDFs and Teams meetings recordings with Copilot in OneDrive mobile.
Note: This feature is available in English only for now.
Create an audio overview in OneDrive mobile

Open the OneDrive mobile app.

Ensure you're signed into your OneDrive for work or school account.

Locate the Word document, PDF, or Teams meeting recording you want to create an audio overview for. Select (...) next to the file or open the file and swipe up.

Select Create an audio overview.

Continue to navigate around OneDrive for work or other apps on your phone while listening to an audio overview. You can control the audio listening experience from:

Limitations

This feature is supported for English files only.

The file types supported by this feature are currently limited to PDFs, Word docs and Teams meeting recordings

Audio overviews are AI-generated, so there may be some inaccuracies or audio glitches

Your file needs to have at least 200 words in order to generate an audio overview

It can take a few minutes to generate an audio overview

You can only save the audio overview if your file is not encrypted

Audio overview generation may be subject to daily usage limits.

The feature is supported for English files only. It will result in an error if non-English language content is detected.
No. Creating an audio overview of a file will not affect the size of a file or use up storage. It will only do so if you choose to save the audio directly to your OneDrive.
If you click on the "Save to OneDrive" option, it will save the audio overview as an mp3 to your Recordings folder.
The "Save to OneDrive" option is displayed on non-encrypted files. A file's sensitivity label determines whether a file is encrypted or not.
