To enable screen time limits on Windows, Xbox, and Android devices, you need to connect your device to your family group. Expand a section below to learn how to add each type of device.

Once added, you can use the app from Google Play for Android or the App store for iOS to adjust limits and grant exceptions.

Add a child's Microsoft account to a Windows device:

  1. Go to  Windows settings.

  2. Go to Accounts.

  3. Go to Family & other people.

  4. Under Your family, select your child, then select Allow. Once they sign in, the device will appear in their connected devices.

Note: Make sure your child’s account is set as a standard user. Family features may not work properly if your child’s account is set as an administrator.

Add a child's account to an Xbox console:

  1. Select the Xbox button to open up the guide.

  2. Sign in, then select Add new.

  3. Sign in with the child's Microsoft account, and then the console should appear in their connected devices.
