How to leave a Microsoft family group
Applies To
If you or another person wants or needs to leave a Microsoft Family Safety family group, only someone with an organizer role can remove them.
Caution:Â Anyone leaving or removed from a family group will also lose access to shared products and services made available by other members, such as a Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
To remove yourself from a family group

Sign in to your Microsoft Family Safety group at account.microsoft.com/family ​​​​​​​Sign in

Click next to your name, and select Leave family group.
Note:Â If you don't see Leave family group, you are not an organizer of the family group. Only organizers of a family group can add or remove people.

Select Remove to confirm.
Note: ​​​​​​​Family groups without an organizer and at least one other family member will be deleted.
To remove another member from a family group
Note:Â Only organizers of a family group can remove family members.

Sign in to your Microsoft Family Safety group at account.microsoft.com/family with an organizer role.Sign in

Click next to the person's name and select Remove from family group.
Important:Â You'll no longer be able to manage their Family Safety settings, and the member will lose access to Family Safety features. They'll also lose access to shared digital purchases made by other members, like Microsoft 365 Family.

Select Remove to confirm.
How to delete a family group
To delete a family group, follow the steps below to remove all other organizers and members.

Sign in to your Microsoft Family Safety group at account.microsoft.com/family with an organizer role.Sign in

Click next to the person's name and select Remove from family group.
Important:Â You'll no longer be able to manage their Family Safety settings, and the member will lose access to Family Safety features. They'll also lose access to shared digital purchases made by other members, like Microsoft 365 Family.

Select Remove to confirm.

Repeat as required. Once everyone else has been removed, you can select Leave family group from your own name.Â
