Make a public team private in Microsoft Teams
Private teams can only be joined if the team owner adds someone to them.
Public teams are visible to everyone from the teams gallery and you can join them without getting approval from the team owner.
Change a team's privacy status
As a team owner, you can change the privacy settings for your team from public to private (or vice versa), depending on the admin settings..

On the left side of the app, Select Chat . If using the separate view, select Teams.

Select More list options
>Your teams and channels to view your teams and channels. -
Locate the team, then point your cursor to reveal additional options

Select Manage team
, then select Settings. -
Expand Team details, then click Edit. A new screen will give you the option to edit the team name, description and privacy.

In the privacy settings, select the down arrow to choose either Public or Private.
