Microsoft Teams lets you quickly view analytics data about teams that you are a member of or own from a desktop.   Analytics data includes the number of active users, guests, and the total number of messages sent in each team for a given period. You can view analytics across all your teams, within individual teams, and in specific channels.

Note: Some of these features are available as part of the public preview program and might undergo further changes before being released publicly. To get access to this and other upcoming features, switch to Teams public preview

View analytics across all of your teams

Get an overview of usage data for all the teams that you are a member or owner of—all in a single view.

  1. From combined chat and channels or the separate teams view, select More list options Microsoft Teams more options icon

  2. Select Your teams and channel Teams (free) Communities three people icon​​​​​​​ to be taken to Your teams page.

  3. Select Analytics, then choose a date range to show the usage data for all the teams that you're a member or an owner of.

Tip: Don't see these options? From Teams Teams (free) Communities three people icon​​​​​​​, select More channel options Microsoft Teams more options iconAnalytics.  

Analytics categories across all teams include active users, people, active guests, posts, and replies. This information reflects the usage data for your chosen date range. The type category indicates whether the team is a private or public team. The lock icon OneDrive file locked icon denotes a private team.

Tip: You can also view all of your teams' analytics by selecting Analytics across teams from an individual team's analytics page.

View analytics for an individual team

You can also get usage data analytics for a team you're part of or own.

  1. From the Your teams page, select the team you'd like to view analytics for.

  2. Choose a date range to show the usage data for that team.

Team analytics for the specified date range includes: 

  • A summary of users and meetings, including active users

  • The number of engagements, including posts, replies, mentions, and reactions

  • The number of meetings held

View analytics for a specific channel

Along with analytics for all your teams and individual teams, data for specific channels is also available. 

  1. Go to a channel that you want info about, select More options More options button, and then select Manage channel Settings button.

  2. At the top of the team page, select Analytics.

  3. Choose a date range to show the usage data for that channel.

Channel analytics for the specified date range includes the number of: 

  • Users in the channel

  • Meetings in the channel

  • Posts, replies, mentions, and reactions in the channel

Tip: You can also view channel analytics by selecting the drop-down under Select a channel while viewing analytics for an individual team
