Get started with Search in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app
Applies To
Search in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app is where you go to find people, chats, meetings, and files. You'll also see recommendations, access recently used files, and review items shared with you.
Benefits of Search

Use filters to narrow your results: Search delivers results from multiple sources within your organization. Apply filters to narrow your results to files, people, meetings, chats, and more.

Get recommendations: See recommended files and meeting recaps along with suggested prompts for working with all of it.

Pick up where you left off: See the list of files you worked on most recently so you can quickly get back to work.
What can I search for?
You can search for people, files, images, messages, SharePoint sites, and more. For example, you could search for a bug bash document that was recently shared with you.
How to use Search

From the Microsoft 365 Copilot app select Search from the Copilot navigation pane.

Enter your query into the search field and select from the results or select —> (Search) to find additional results.
Tip: Not sure where to find the Microsoft 365 Copilot app? Launch it from the Copilot icon on your taskbar, from your mobile device, or on the web at Microsoft365.com.
Recaps and recommendations
The Recommended section contains meeting recaps and files relevant to you, each with suggested prompts to help you locate the information you need.
Select a recommendation tile to open it or select a prompt at the bottom of the recommendation to open in Microsoft 365 Copilot. There you can chat with Copilot to get more information as needed.
Quick access
Under Quick access you'll find a list of files organized under three sections:

Continue Working: Files you recently worked on or accessed.

Shared: Files that other users in your organization have shared with you.

Favorites: Files that you have marked as a favorite in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, OneDrive, or even in the Microsoft 365 apps such as Word or PowerPoint.
Filters
Use filters to narrow down search results in your Quick Access sections. Dive deeper into additional content filters by selecting + New in the filter menu and filter by Location, Shared by, and Owned by.
